Just got this email from the Warwick Business School alumni relations office:
Dear Friend
World Class provides a framework for operational excellence, increased effectiveness and efficiency, enabling you to exploit your organisation's unique capabilities to deliver competitive advantage.
Seriously, that was the opening line as if I’m supposed to know what the hell they’re talking about.
It’s good to know that the tradition of clear and concise explanations lives on at Warwick.
I’m so glad I went to a World Class business school…

I appreciate your frustration with the wording of the email. 'world class' should have been in italics and would then have made more sense. however, this email received a lot of positive feedback and increased engagement. I trust this email won't put you off reading future emails from the development and alumni office.
If you would like to give some additional constructive feedback on our communications to you, please do contact us directly.
Best wishes,
Thanks WBS Alumni,
+1 for actively monitoring
-1 for not realising that it was the buzz-word heavy, content poor sentence
"framework for operational excellence, increased effectiveness and efficiency, enabling you to exploit your organisation's unique capabilities to deliver competitive advantage."
that was the object of my mirth.
Mainly I found it funny as I have been just as guilty of adding "business language" to otherwise simple concepts and obscuring any meaning they may have contained.
You have intrigued me enough to go and look at what World Class is though. I'll check it out as soon as the WBS servers are back up.
"We recommend that you try this service again in an hour or so." - Will do...
